Adsense is the best program to earn money using your website or blog. It is a small ad box that you put on your website or blog that shows ad's that advertisers have paid for in the Google Adwords program. It could be a promotion of a product, service, website or what, but the content of the ad is relevant to the content on your site. When someone click's on the ad on your page you get money, how much depends on the price the advertiser is paying. It could be 0.01 to 50.00 dollars and you get a percentage of that. (it is whatever advertisers are willing to spend) look at right side of this page, you should see one of the standard Adsense Banner ad box's. This is what some of the ad's look like that will appear on your site. They can have text or graphics in them. you can change size, color and some other things once you got involved.

Things to do before applying for the Adsense program.

When you apply you will be asked for a URL of your site so that one of the reviewers can have a good look at it. You better have good content, reviews and articles, stick to the relevent topic. If you have just one page for right now thats ok, just have a few relevant articles about 250 words or so and there should not be a problem. DO NOT submit a site that is under construction. You will be rejected. DO NOT make your site into one big advertisement. If you are turned down, add another page or two with some relevant articles and apply again. Better try to get you accpted the first time. Remember, have relevant and quality content is the key to Google adsense and it will help you in the search engines too.
